Please keep your car’s CNG cylinder under careful scrutiny

PESHAWAR: A newly-wed couple died Monday when the compressed natural gas (CNG) kit of their vehicle exploded while they were on their way to Rawalpindi for honeymoon.
Apart from the couple, six other people including a child sustained injuries and were rushed to the Lady Reading Hospital where their condition was stated to be stable.
The CNG kit of a car exploded with a bang at 9.45am, while it was being filled up in front of the Lahore Bus Terminal at Grand Trunk Road, claiming the lives of Musharraf Pervez and his wife. The ill-omened couple was the resident of Pepal Mandi and they had tied the knot some two and a half months ago.
The owner of the vehicle, Sajid Gul, who was severely wounded in the blast, told “The News” the blast happened due to the high pressure of the gas.According to the police report, the CNG station owners accused the vehicle owner of having installed a substandard kit, which he said caused the explosion.
However, Sajid Gul insisted it was the high pressure that caused the explosion, saying he had got the vehicle on lease from a bank and these vehicles are fitted with high-quality kits. The injured were identified as Sahkeel, Sartaj, Saeed and a passerby, eight-year-old Sikmat Singh.
